I rarely leave my hole these days(stop laughing El.
), but,
when Roger Federer finally won the French Open, I felt the need to say...
The one thing I wanted to hear the last few years was, "Jeu, Set et Match, Roger Federer!!!!", on Sunday at Roland-Garros. Admittedly, the odds weren't good when Rafa was winning the last 4, and Fed struggling this year. Just goes to show, you never know what can happen. Of course, he's now being debated as the GOAT(Greatest Of All Time), and there are his supporters and detracters.
This cannot be denied.
He's one of 6 men to win all 4 majors.
He's reached 20 consecutive grandslam quarterfinals.
He's reached 20 consecutive grandslam semifinals.
He reached 10 straight finals, a record.
He said last year after Australia, he'd start another streak.
He's reached the last 5 grandslam finals, good for second for consecutive finals.
So, he's reached 15 out of the last 16 grandslam finals.
And he may break his own record streak of 10 grandslam finals.
He may be not the greatest, but he's the best tennis player I've ever seen, and he is great.
As for the women, well done, Svetlana Kuznetsova. And poor Dinara. Maybe one day...
But, this is for Roger. Very rarely has potential been realized in this sport. He was proclaimed to be the one.
And now, at this moment, he is.
It's been a real joy.
Hail Roger Federer.
Take care, all.
